Bardagi – The claim for gold
“Bardagi: The Claim for Gold is quite a tricky game to draw conclusions about after only a couple of plays. There is just so much going on that it takes time to learn, and this makes those early sessions quite drawn out affairs. What we have is a game that I think more than many others will thoroughly divide opinion. I know there are players out there, lots of them, who will absolutely adore this game. The brilliant combination of area control, various unit types, resource management and trade will tick so many boxes! But, there are also players who will hate this game with a passion purely based on the frustration of trying to get to grips with the gameplay and getting to a point that everything is fluid and slick.” Pros Looks great Excellent depth and scope for strategic play ...
“BARDAGI is one of the best games of 2016 as far as component’s production is concerned. The box is heavy and sturdy, glossy and colourful, with eye-pleasing artwork. All other components are of similarly excellent quality – with a few minor exceptions – the “wooden disks in your colour” and coins are actually plastic tiddly-wink counters in your colour, the “Warrior/Berserkur/Berserker” miniatures are weak at the legs and thus tend to bend backwards and there are times when the rules book and the tiles disagree. There is also one major cause for concern.” http://www.gamesgazette.co.uk/gg/main.php?p=content/Board%20Games/Bardagi%20the%20Claim%20for%20Gold.htm
“I want to open this review of Bardagi: The Claim for Gold, a little differently from the norm. I want to make three points about the game before I then dig deeper into the reasons this Viking romp left me in something of a quandary. Point one, Bardagi is a quite stunning looking game. I wouldn’t normally mention the looks of a game until much further into the review, but, Bardagi is simply sumptuous to gaze upon. Glorious colour, vivid and entrancing dance across the table whenever this game is present. More on this later.” Bardagi: The Claim for Gold Review
“The game ends either on a decided real-time limit, or once a number of rounds have been played. You work out your points from your gold, resource trade-ins, and you receive extra points for controlling most land or amassing most gold. The player with the most glory at the end of the game is the winner. Simple right? With so many things you can do in this game, not so simple! Bardagi is a bit of a mix in theme between a civ-building game with your tech upgrades you can get, and a war game with area control, with a mix of random trade goods in there. with all the different resources available around the lands, it really does give you a reason to go a Viking and explore. Each turn bears so many things to think about. Where do you leave your Godi for extra resource gain? Why ...

Dissolution has occurred in the Vikings homeland; the country´s resources are depleted and there is turbulence in the society. The High Jarl has invited a group of brave people the opportunity to try their luck in a newly discovered group of islands. The islands are rich of natural resources and your task is to gain control of these resources from the Barbarian tribes currently occupying the area. The takeover is to be done in any way possible; through trade, religious conversion or direct conflict. If you manage to overtake areas peacefully, the Barbarians might join your clan and aid you in your task. There are areas through the island that stand neutral against any invaders and there you can buy or sell resources & learn runes. During the game, your clan tries to build up their region and over shine their rivals with vast riches and wealth. At the game ...
